This is a simple and delicious stir-fry with tofu recipe.
Description:
Flavor Profile: Umami-rich, savory, and slightly smoky. Soy sauce provides a deep salty base, ginger adds a warm zesty kick, garlic supplies depth, and toasted sesame oil wraps everything in a fragrant, nutty finish.
Culinary Context: Rooted in traditional East Asian wok cooking, stir-frying relies on high heat and rapid movement to quickly cook ingredients while preserving their natural colors, nutrients, and crunch.
Ingredients
Tofu: 1 block extra-firm tofu (drained and cut into cubes)
Veggies: 1 cup broccoli, 1 cup chopped bell peppers, ½ cup zucchini, ½ cup green beans, ½ chopped red onion
Prep the tofu: Press the tofu with paper towels to dry it, then cut it into cubes.
Cook the tofu: Heat oil in a pan over medium-high heat. Add the tofu and cook for 6–8 minutes until golden and crispy. Move to a plate.
Cook the veggies: Add garlic and ginger to the same pan for 30 seconds until fragrant. Throw in all the veggies and stir-fry for 3–5 minutes until tender-crisp.
Combine: Add the tofu back to the pan. Drizzle with soy sauce and sesame oil, then toss everything together for 1–2 minutes.
Serve: Top with green onions and sesame seeds, then serve hot!
